Jeff Small appointed Director, School of Audiology and Speech Sciences

Dr. Jeff Small has been appointed Director, School of Audiology and Speech Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine, effective July 24, 2017 to June 30, 2022.

Dr. Small is an Associate Professor and cognitive scientist with specialization in communication sciences and disorders. He joined the School of Audiology and Speech Sciences in 1997, specializing in acquired language disorders. Dr. Small’s research, funded by CIHR, BCMSF and the Alzheimer Society of Canada, investigates novel applications of cognitive-behavioural therapies in Alzheimer’s disease which has led to the development and dissemination of communication training programs for family and professional caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s disease. He received his PhD from the University of Southern California in applied psycholinguistics, followed by postdoctoral fellowships in geriatric psycholinguistics at the University of Kansas and Simon Fraser University.
