Natalie Cook Zywicki appointed Associate Vice-President, Alumni and Executive Director, alumni UBC

A message from Heather McCaw, Vice-President, Development and Alumni Engagement

I am pleased to announce that Natalie Cook Zywicki has been appointed Associate Vice-President, Alumni and Executive Director, alumni UBC, effective March 1, 2020.

Natalie joined UBC in 2004 as the Interim Director of Development in the Faculty of Medicine and in 2007 became the Associate Director of Annual Giving in the Development office.

She joined the alumni team — now called alumni UBC — in 2009 in the newly-created Development and Alumni Engagement portfolio. She became Associate Executive Director in 2013 as part of a leadership team that created UBC’s first dual-goal alumni engagement and fundraising campaign — start an evolution. Most recently Natalie has served as the interim Associate Vice-President, Alumni and Executive Director, alumni UBC. During her time at UBC, the number of alumni engaged in the life of the university has quadrupled.

With a BA from Brock University and an MBA from Royal Roads, Natalie has 13 years of professional experience at Brock and at McMaster universities in Ontario.

As the new AVP, Alumni and Executive Director, alumni UBC, Natalie fulfils a dual role that reports both to the Vice-President, DAE and to the Alumni Association’s Chair of the Board of Directors. Natalie brings her finely-tuned strategic, diplomatic and interpersonal skills to this role, and I have every confidence that this very important relationship between the university and its alumni will continue to flourish.

I would like to thank the search committee for their thoughtful deliberations and for reaching their unanimous recommendation. Please join me in congratulating Natalie on this appointment and wishing her success in this important role.
